Start mining

Mainnet opened on Sunday 8 November, 14:00 UTC. This is v1.0.1. The same download also runs the testnet, whose coins have no value.

  1. Download

    Download for Windows

    64-bit, v1.0.1, Windows 10 or 11.

  2. Check the file (optional)

    In your Downloads folder, click the address bar, type powershell and press Enter. Paste this line. It prints OK if the file is genuine.

  3. Unzip

    Right-click the zip and choose Extract All. The programs aren't code-signed yet, so Windows may warn you. Choose More info, then Run anyway.

  4. Start mining

    Double-click Start Opacra mainnet and allow it through the firewall if asked. The first time, choose a password and write down the 25 words it shows. It mines with a quarter of your processor; to use more, open the start file in Notepad and put a number after set MINE_THREADS=. Leave the window open.

  5. See your coins

    Double-click Open Opacra wallet, type your password, then balance. If it asks about background mining, type N. Mined coins unlock after 60 blocks, about 30 minutes. Type refresh to see new ones.

  6. Send a private payment

    transfer ADDRESS AMOUNT

    Then find it on the explorer. Only you can decode it.

  1. Download, check and start mining

    One command for Ubuntu 24.04 or similar, 64-bit. It stops if the file doesn't match its hash. The first time, choose a password and write down the 25 words.

  2. See your coins

    In a second terminal. Type your password, then balance. Mined coins unlock after 60 blocks, about 30 minutes.

  3. Send a private payment

    transfer ADDRESS AMOUNT

    Then find it on the explorer. Only you can decode it.

Keep your clock synced, because nodes reject blocks more than 3 minutes ahead. More public nodes also means seeds see less of the network. Node guide

Check the signature

The signed checksums cover both downloads, signed with the release key:

Look for "Good signature from Opacra Releases" and a matching fingerprint. A warning that the key isn't certified is normal.

Mine with XMRig or a pool

The launcher is all most people need. For a pool or a fast processor, use our XMRig build. Stock XMRig can't mine Opacra.

Check the file first

Antivirus often flags miners, and fake miners are a common scam. Both hashes are in the signed checksums.

Run it

With a pool, which gives you its address and port:

./xmrig -o POOL:PORT -a rx/opca -u YOUR_ADDRESS -p rig1 -k

Solo through your own node. Type stop_mining in the launcher first:

Mainnet addresses start with Pa, testnet addresses with Te. Pools are run by community members and hold your coins until they pay out.

In alphabetical order, with the same details for each. Each pool listed has said it will keep itself below 40% of the network and follow Opacra's emergency checkpoints. Spreading your hashrate across pools keeps a young chain safe.
